The following work is part of the drafting process of the Lamuza Special Plan, which aims to transform the complex into a ‘Park of Creative Cultures’.

In order to draw up this Special Plan, it has been essential to update and identify the cultural needs of Laudio. This whole process has a long history. In 2012 the first diagnosis of the Culture of Laudio was developed, and in 2016 the ‘Mapping of the Cultural Ecosystem of Laudio’ was carried out, which was intended to be a starting point that would help the municipality to establish a forthcoming debate on the uses of certain cultural spaces. This process, promoted by SOS Laudioko Lamuza Parkea, was never completed and is the predecessor of the current process.

The 2024 census has been carried out as the first step of the Special Plan, promoted by a popular signature collection promoted by Kulturzaleak, financed thanks to its inclusion in the participatory budgets of the Provincial Council of Araba, and organised by Laudio Town Council. It has been received with great interest and expectation on the part of the community, which demands greater attention and continuity in institutional support.

The active participation in the census reflects a collective desire to improve and enrich the cultural life of the municipality. Moreover, transparency and open communication during the process have contributed to building trust with cultural agents. The census not only reflects the existing associative cultural needs, but also highlights the richness and diversity of the local cultural heritage; and maps individual cultural agents that were not on the institutional radar.

The project seeks to reorganise, renew and strengthen the cultural life of the municipality with the support of its own inhabitants and cultural agents. This effort aims to ensure that Laudio has a solid, accessible and sustainable cultural ecosystem in the future.

In short, Laudio is facing a process of cultural transformation that aims to create an inclusive, innovative and sustainable environment. The success of the project presented below will depend to a large extent on the community’s ability to get involved and contribute their ideas and efforts.
