The project proposes a new façade consistent with the building’s use and its surroundings, combining a contemporary image with improved energy performance.
Based on a classic composition—base, body, and entablature—with a marked rationalist rigor, the intervention enhances its original virtues, refining them of superfluous elements and reinterpreting them with a sober and contemporary language.
The central idea is movement, reflecting the daily life of the building and the city. This is achieved by breaking up the existing flatness through the flaring of the openings, which generates a changing play of light and shadow, adding depth and relief to the façade.
The reduced palette of materials combines light tones on the vertical panels with ochre shades on the contours of the openings, integrating the whole into an environment of sandstone façades. On the ground floor, the new carpentry improves the relationship with the street and institutional transparency.
The continuous thermal envelope and sustainable durable materials guarantee efficiency, low maintenance, and a renewed image for the building.
